We work hard to preach and teach God's Word. Our Pastor's sermons are from the Word of God, bringing understanding and application. Our Morning Worship service is broadcast live over five Facebook and YouTube channels. Edited weekly messages are made available on YouTube for anyone to watch. Short reels are edited and made available on our Facebook and YouTube channels, too!
We have four Bible Studies each week that are focused on God's Word. There is a Small Group Bible Study each Sunday morning at 10:00 AM with solid Bible teaching.
On Tuesday mornings at 10 AM, our senior ladies meet to study God's Word. They are currently using the book called Bible Recap. This is an in-depth survey of the Bible.
On Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM, we have "Time Apart." This Bible Study session is focused on young working women. It is designed to give them an opportunity to take time out of their busy lives to fellowship and study the Bible with other moms and grandmoms. They are currently using the book CORE 52 as a study guide.
And then on Wednesday evenings at 6 PM, we offer Mid-Week Bible Study. This session is led by our Pastor. Some of our studies over the past few years have been "The Gospel in the Stars." This study examined how the constellations in the night sky were placed by God to teach people that they needed the coming Savior before there were prophets or scriptures to read. We studied the Minor Prophets. These are books of the Old Testament. The Intestamental Period, sometimes called The Silent 400 Years. This included the period between the Old Testament book of Malachi and the New Testament book of Matthew. We just finished a study of The Book of Job in the Old Testament. Our next study is "Developing Your Spiritual Gift," using references from the New Testament. Our Mid-Week Bible Study is broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube, and the edited recording is available on our YouTube page. In addition, study notes are available on our Facebook page for anyone to download and use.
We're serious about God's Word at CBC!
To help facilitate Bible Study, we've been busy renovating the rooms in our Education Building. We have a great classroom for our elementary-age kids, a newly renovated and furnished classroom for adults, and two more children's rooms are getting fresh new carpet this month. Finally, we've had central heating and air conditioning installed in the Education Building, and we've removed all the ugly, noisy window air conditioners, making the building more comfortable and conducive to learning.
At CBC, we strive to make God's word central and prominent. God's word is central in the Sunday messages, in our Small Group Bible Studies, and is the most important resource in our daily lives.
God's word teaches us to help those we can, when we can, in every area, which includes basic life needs. CBC is active in several areas to meet those needs.
Backpack Ministry
The churches in our area work together to put together backpacks for our local students. These backpacks include school supplies, and we also include food because some students have a rough time getting the food they need to be good students.
Benevolence Ministry
Sometimes people need help with meeting day-to-day expenses. CBC maintains a benevolence fund to help address these needs. The fund is supported by gifts from members of our church.
People may contact the church for assistance with utility bills, rent, groceries, and other living expenses. This fund is intended to provide as much momentary support as possible, not ongoing help. The amount of assistance depends on the need and on how well the program is funded at the time of the request, and sadly, we are not able to help everyone to the full level of their need.
Cooperative Program
In 1925, our denomination, the Southern Baptist Convention, created a program in which churches voluntarily contribute funds. These funds are used to finance missionary work at the local, state, national, and international levels. In 2025, our church contributed $10,178 towards the program. The total amount received in 2025 from all the participating churches was $186,091,048.26. Since CBC's inception, our church has contributed $413,000. Here are some ways the Cooperative Programs funds are utilized.
It funds more than 3600 international missionaries in 155 countries who see, on average, more than 400 people a day come to faith in Jesus.
It has helped plant more than 11k Baptist churches in North America since 2010.
It is helping more than 24k men and women train for ministry through our six seminaries and Bible colleges.
YIt is caring for more than 1200 of Kentucky's most vulnerable foster children through Sunrise, which has facilitated 726 adoptions since 2006.
Cooperative Program volunteers prepped over 4,600 hot meals for ice-impacted people in three Kentucky counties and four Tennessee counties two weeks ago through disaster relief efforts.
Plus, this year, it helped 66 retired ministry couples or widows receive a check for support through Mission Dignity
This is a vital program, and one we are proud to partner with to extend the kindness of Jesus Christ around the world.
CBC wants to partner with parents in teaching their children about Jesus. We realize that to do this, we need a safe and comfortable facility.
We have been on a five-year program to make our facility that kind of place. The individual tasks of this work have been many. Broadly speaking, we have renovated and updated our Sanctuary, Fellowship Hall, and several classroom buildings in our Education Building. I invite you to check out our church's Facebook page and look at the picture albums we've posted chronicling that work. Most recently, we have installed a central heating and cooling system in our Education Building. This makes the rooms more comfortable year-round, quieter to facilitate teaching, and more aesthetic by removing the window AC units.
We are also working with our city and county officials to provide helpful functions for our local families.
Recently, we announced the availability of free garden plots so residents may plant a vegetable garden.
We have been busy renovating our church basement to make it a Safe Place in the event of a tornado or other natural emergency.
We are working on setting up a volleyball court so local residents have a place for recreation.

Parents, in a couple of weeks you’ll be adding school attendance to your weekday schedule. A good education is vitally important for your child’s adult life. Extracurricular activities like playing sports, learning to play an instrument, developing another hobby or pastime also help your child become a capable, well-rounded adult. The following article lists five reasons why exposing your child to the Christian faith helps them. We hope you’ll read this article and then choose to have your family take time to learn about and worship God. If you do not have a church home, we would love to have you worship with us, and be sure to invite the grandparents to attend with you. We will have a special back-to-school Sunday on August 30th, beginning at 10:00 AM with Morning Worship at 11:00 AM!
In today’s fast-paced, highly digital world, parents face unprecedented challenges in guiding their children toward healthy, fulfilling lives. Beyond academic preparation and extracurricular activities, many families look to faith as a foundational pillar for raising well-adjusted kids. Grounding children in Christian faith provides a rich framework that nurtures their emotional, moral, social, and spiritual development. Here's how Christian faith can positively shape a child’s life and future.
1. A Grounded Sense of Identity and Worth
One of the greatest struggles children and teenagers face today is defining their self-worth, often seeking validation through peer approval, grades, or social media.
Christian teaching offers a radically different perspective: a child’s value is inherent, given by God, and unshakeable. Learning that they are fearfully and wonderfully made—and loved unconditionally—provides children with an enduring sense of security. When kids internalize that their worth is not tied to performance or popular opinion, they develop resilience against bullying, peer pressure, and self-doubt.
2. A Clear Moral Compass
Navigating ethical choices can be confusing for a growing child. Christian faith provides an established moral framework built on principles like honesty, integrity, forgiveness, and love for others. Through biblical teachings and stories, children learn to distinguish right from wrong not just out of fear of punishment, but out of respect and love for God and their neighbors. Concepts like the Golden Rule ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you") teach empathy early on, encouraging children to think beyond themselves and act with kindness.
3. Purpose, Hope, and Emotional Well-Being
Childhood and adolescence bring natural anxiety, whether from school pressures, changing friendships, or world events. Faith supplies children with comfort and hope during difficult moments. Prayer as a Comfort Tool: Teaching children to pray gives them a healthy, constructive outlet to express their fears, gratitude, and worries. It reassures them that they are never alone. A Greater Purpose: Understanding that they are part of a bigger story gives kids a sense of purpose. It encourages an optimistic worldview, teaching them that hardship is temporary and that light and restoration are always possible.

Faith is rarely practiced in isolation; it thrives in community. Attending church or participating in youth groups connects children with a multi-generational network of support. In a church environment, children interact with caring adults—teachers, mentors, and family friends—who reinforce positive values alongside their parents. Furthermore, youth groups offer a positive social environment where kids can form healthy friendships grounded in shared values, helping them feel connected and valued outside the classroom.
5. Cultivating Gratitude and Generosity
Self-centeredness is a natural stage of child development, but faith helps widen a child’s horizon. Christian values strongly emphasize stewardship, service, and gratitude.
Participating in church service projects, food drives, or mission initiatives teaches children compassion in action. By serving others who are less fortunate, kids cultivate a heart of gratitude for what they have and learn the joy of giving back to their community.
