We're getting excited at Campbellsburg Baptist Church! A lot is going on, and even more is about to happen. Let me share with you.

This Sunday, August 30, 2026, we are celebrating and supporting our families with Back-to-School Sunday. Our Henry County Students have returned to school. Families are adjusting their schedules to fit school attendance, team sports practice, games, band, and more. It's a busy time.

We're encouraging our parents to make attending church part of their weekly schedule. With everything parents do to raise their children, we hope they will see the benefit to their children and the whole family of taking time to worship God together. Recently, we sent a flyer to our local residents reminding them of five benefits of attending church for their youth and children. Here are the five reasons. Attending church regularly as a family provides...

A Grounded Sense of Identity and Worth
A Clear Moral Compass
Purpose, Hope, and Emotional Well-Being
A Supportive Community
Cultivating Gratitude and Generosity, and a bonus benefit
Worshipping Together on Sunday Makes Your Week Better.

The article is posted on our Pastor's Post page on this website, on the Features tab.

Please review the poster to the left to see all the exciting things we have for you this Sunday! In addition to the free school supplies, we will have snacks and drinks available before Sunday School and our Worship Service. We also have a limited quantity of T-shirts celebrating the goodness of God, while supplies last.

We've also been busy improving our Education Building to make the rooms cleaner, more comfortable, and more conducive to Small Group Bible Study. Please come and let us show you our improved building.

Community Involvement

Proclaiming and teaching God's word is our primary focus at CBC. Jesus also taught us to help people with their day-to-day practical needs. To follow our Lord's example, CBC is involved in several ministries. One ministry our folks support is our community backpack ministry. This ministry involves all of our Campbellsburg churches. During the school year, volunteers prepare backpacks with food to ensure our children have something to eat through the weekend. The number of children served has doubled over the past year, and without this ministry, many would go hungry.

Another project we began this year is to create a community garden where local residents may plant and harvest food from their own garden. CBC has partnered with the Henry County Board of Education to make garden plots available on the Campbellsburg Elementary grounds. Any resident can receive access to a 20' x 20' plot of land that has been plowed, tilled, and made ready for planting. If you are interested in having our garden, please contact our church office to apply. CBC is handling the land preparation and administration of the community garden.

Everyone who has lived in our county for any length of time knows that some years we face tornadoes and severe storms. Some in our community need a safe, centrally located shelter to wait out these storms. CBC's basement is ideal for this purpose. It is surrounded by thick, sturdy walls and a ceiling. The windows are small and protected, and a working bathroom is available. CBC has partnered with the City of Campbellsburg to provide our basement as a safe place for the community during such times. Our city police and other employees have been given keys to the building. When severe, dangerous weather is coming, they will unlock the doors so residents can take shelter. We are continuing to improve our basement with a refrigerator, a ping-pong table, a TV, games, and more in case residents need to shelter for several hours. If dangerous weather is forecast, please contact Campbellsburg City Hall.

We also plan to make the basement available as a recreational site on weekends so that local residents have some place to go close by where they can enjoy a night of recreation.

The last project I'll mention is developing our property with outdoor recreation fixtures. Recently, our church members voted to approve installing basketball goals, a volleyball court, and a tetherball court on our property. We installed two basketball goals in our upper parking lot at the end of our Education Building. We are installing poles for a volleyball net on the land behind our Education Building, and we will install a tetherball court nearby. We're making all of these available for our local residents to use. The city maintains some basketball goals across Hwy 421 from our church, but children in our area have told us their parents don't allow them to play there because crossing the highway is too dangerous, including tractor-trailer trucks zooming by. We installed the basketball goals to give our youth and children more places to play without crossing the busy highway. Some children have already been enjoying having these basketball goals available to them. When the volleyball court is ready, we hope our neighbors in Campbellsburg will form teams and play volleyball. Individuals or pairs can play tetherball too! As this develops, we hope to offer other services like grilling food and providing drinks. Another idea is to provide child care inside in the evenings while the adults play their games! We believe these offerings can help our community by providing a recreational space, a safe place, and a place to grow fresh vegetables, while also being a church where our neighbors can come and worship our Lord God.
